In my previous search for public Cloud VPS Provider in Singapore, i couldn’t really can’t find the Cloud VPS i need in my previous search. So this time, i am going to look around in Asia to include Hong Kong and Japan into the search to ensure that we still have the bandwidth speed in Asia along with the same requirement! But before we began, let’s take a look at this infographic which tells us who has the fastest speed in the Asia.
VPS Requirements
Similar to my search in Singapore, Here are my requirements for a VPS machine in Asia!
- 20GB-30GB of SSD hard disk space
- At least 512MB of Ram
- At least 1TB of Bandwidth Transfer
- At least 100Mbps of speed across multiple part of the Asia
- At least 1 vCPU processor speed
- Minimum of 99%-99.99% Uptime
- Budget of 10-20USD/month

With a new goal in mind, here are my top 10 VPS provider in Singapore that reputation or pricing attracts me.

Linode, a very popular choice among developers who is a very close competition with Digital Ocean. Offering wise pretty close to Digital Ocean. Close competition to Digital Ocean. They offer both Japan and Singapore datacenter in Asia.
VULTR
The best alternative to Ocean Digital that offers more location and their Asia datacenter is in Japan! It’s cheaper and offer more attractive promotion than Digital Ocean. No idea why i even mention Digital Ocean after i saw VULTR. They are definitely the fastest Cloud services as compare to the norm Cloud services. VPS.NET
VPS.NET has a datacenter in Singapore and Japan and is a popular cloud provider in the world. They are being recommended for Good speeds, support and ease of use.
RackSpace
Rackspace in Hong Kong similar to Amazon AWS, its a pay as you go structure but Rackspace is popular for its uptime and reliability although its pretty much higher than USD40 a month for a startup.
Google Cloud Platform
Google Cloud Platform offers Asia Pacific location, similar to RackSpace but as you can see in the image, it looks way attractive and the cost are way cheaper than Amazon (with the discount). Of course, this might not be the case in the future but for starter, its pretty much looking good and might be way better than Amazon.
Softlayer
Softlayer do provides their VPS services in Singapore but with a premium of 26.80 USD and running on Enterprise 15k HDD instead of the ideal SSD with lower bandwidth allowances, most likely its targeting businesses with reliability as its finest priority.
SimplerCloud
SimplerCloud is a Singapore based cloud service provider from the founders of Webvisions Pte Ltd providing real-time, scalable and easily managed cloud infrastructure for start-ups and business throughout Asia. Looking at the ping, scares me off though. They have great bandwidth within Singapore but outside Singapore, its something to worry about.
Amazon AWS
I bet most of us will know who is Amazon and their product AWS. It can be said that Amazon AWS is one of the leading Cloud VPS in Singapore as well (despite the cost when you starts to grow). The point here is that there is a free tier where you can use Amazon AWS in Singapore or Japan for free. This is great if you have a small website and wish to use it for 12 months for free! Especially a startup project! But if you are picky like i am, you won’t go for AWS since their SSD isn’t cheap. You pay peanuts, you get monkey.
KDatacenter
Lastly, KDatacenter, a South Korea datacenter that offers SSD VPS. I don’t think this is a cloud provider but the offering is as attractive as many others since South Korea also has the fastest internet in the region.

WebFaction seems like a crazy startup if you ask me. They are the only one that offers a HUGE SSD storage space and are fully managed server. Operate since 2003 and provides 3 location including Singapore.

Z.COM Cloud, Japan largest internet is providing public cloud services and their package is quite competitive especially people looking for enterprise packages from Google or Amazon AWS. Well, this is all i could find in 2015. Pretty much not a lot of public cloud at the moment looking at the high cost of bandwidth in Asia. But from these list, you can kind of estimate what do you want to do next for sure.
